On January 30th, the SUNSON Project, alongside our CSP Sisterhood Community, hosted a successful workshop on high-temperature Concentrated Solar Power (CSP). Experts and researchers gathered to discuss key challenges and innovative solutions for enhancing CSP efficiency and applicability.
Key Topics Covered
🔹 The role of CSP in renewable energy and its potential for industrial applications.
🔹 Overcoming technical challenges, including heat transfer, material durability, and system efficiency.
🔹 Contributions from six European projects—ASTERIX-CAESAR, ABRAYTCSPFUTURE, SUNSON, PYSOLO, BLAZETEC, and COOPERANT[NF1] —each bringing innovative approaches to CSP development.
Why High-Temperature CSP Matters?
Unlike photovoltaics, CSP has a built-in thermal energy storage advantage, allowing it to deliver power even when the sun isn’t shining. By increasing operating temperatures, CSP can:
✅ Enhance efficiency through advanced power cycles.
✅ Support industrial processes like hydrogen production.
✅ Replace fossil fuels with dispatchable clean energy.
